UQ20 will take place on the Garching campus of TUM, in the building of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (MW) and nearby university buildings, in the north of Munich.

The easiest way to get to the Garching campus is by metro. The closest metro station is "Garching Forschungszentrum" which can be reached with the metro line U6.

How do I reach UQ20 from Munich airport?
Take the S-Bahn S1 to “Neufahrn”, and from there the bus no 690 to “Garching Forschungszentrum”. The estimated travel time is about 40 minutes.

How do I reach Munich city center from the airport?
Take the S-Bahn S1 or S8 to “Marienplatz”. The estimated travel time is about 40 - 50 minutes.

How do I reach UQ20 from Munich city center?
We recommend that you start your trip or connect at “Marienplatz” (S-Bahn, metro lines U3 and U6) or “Odeonsplatz” (metro lines U3, U4, U5, U6). From there take the metro line U6 in the direction "Münchner Freiheit" to "Garching Forschungszentrum". The estimated travel time is about 25 minutes.
Where can I buy tickets and how much is the cost?
Tickets are available online or at ticket machines located at the airport or the metro station stops. For bus trips, you can buy a ticket with the bus driver.

If you plan to make a return trip from Munich to Garching on the same day, we recommend to purchase a Day Ticket Zone M-2 at a cost of 9.50 €.
Frequent traveller pass
The pass Isar Card Weekly is valid on seven consecutive days. Note that the price for the Isar Card Weekly depends on the zones you pass during your journey. Refer to the tariff map to determine the zones. The metro stop “Garching Forschungszentrum” is located in the Zone 2.
From the Munich city center (Zone M) to the Garching campus (Zone 2) the cost is 35.10 € per week.
From Garching city center oder Garching Hochbrück to the Garching campus you are traveling in Zone 2 at a cost of 17.10 € per week.
Note that all tickets are valid for trips with the S-Bahn, metro and bus. There is no need to purchase a new ticket when changing the means of transportation.

By car
On the highway A9 (Munich-Berlin) exit at Nr. 70 "Garching-Nord" and follow the signs to „Hochschul-/und Forschungsgelände“ and "Zufahrt Nord".
- There is a free parking lot off Lichtenbergstrasse opposite the bus stop and next to the daycare center. From there you can reach the western entrance of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and UQ20 within 10 min walking.
- More parking lots are located in the southern part of the campus on Boltzmannstrasse and on the western side of the Maths / Computer Science building. From there the walking distance to UQ20 is up to 15 min.
